Hi guys,
I know this is quite strange to meet for the first time through a blog. My schedule is quite messed up for now so I won’t be able to see you face-to-face in class tomorrow. But I also don’t want to waste our first meeting and not give you a preview of the kind of hell…I mean, class..that you enrolled yourself in. Haha!
Anyway, so the class is Orcom 105 – Dynamics of Public Relations and you can get the copy of the syllabus here. The syllabus details the course description, objectives, course content, class requirements (my favorite! haha!), and class policies. We’ll discuss the syllabus next week for your questions and clarifications, but feel free to email me now if you would like to add to the list of requirements.
For our class next week, please submit:
- A 3×5 index card with these following details: full name, student number, year level and course, mobile number, and email address. Please also put your nickname on the top left of the index card and on the top right, please staple your recent 1×1 or 2×2 color pic.
- A sheet of paper listing your group of 7 members for the first requirement, detailed below.
Face-to-face Interview with a Pinoy PR Pro
This is the first group requirement in class, which aims to expose you to the real world of Filipino PR professionals—how they work, where they work, what drives them. The interviewee may come from any organization or agency and must have at least two years of work experience as a PR professional.
Here is a guide scope for the interview. Feel free to expand as you deem necessary. The idea is for you to get a clear, concrete picture of the life and career of a Pinoy PR Pro.
- Personal: definition, beliefs, principles on PR; motivations for pursuing a PR career; aspirations for a PR career
- Functional: job description or typical day; challenges on the job and how these were overcome; measures of effectiveness; lowest or proudest moment on the job as a PR pro
- Organizational: where PR is in his/her organization (e.g. own department or placed under Marketing?); PR team’s role in the overall business (e.g. Strategic driver? Effective implementor?)
Use your interview as input to a mini-magazine on your interviewee that your group needs to submit in class. I leave this part to your creativity as Orcom majors (number of pages, size, layout, photos, etc.), but I’m expecting nothing less than a publication that we can all be proud to share with others and say, “This is UP Orcom work!”
Deadline for submission of the mini-magazine is on Dec. 3, which means you have no excuse not to give it your best shot. And just so you know, I’m not impressed with fancy design to make up for lack of substance, so don’t even try, okay?
For the meantime, I want to know what you guys think of Public Relations—what word or image come to your mind when your hear it, how you understand it based on your experiences and exposure, and what you want to know more about it in class. So please fill in your answers to these phrases in the comments section below with your name:
- The first thing that comes to mind when I hear ‘PR’ is _____.
- PR to me is _____.
- In Orcom 105, I want to learn _____.
Looking forward to reading your answers, guys!

The first thing that comes to mind when I hear “PR” is the word IMAGE.
PR to me is about creating a positive image of a company to its target population/ audience through effective communication.
In Orcom 105, I want to learn how to make an effective PR plan and I also want to know if ethics is still being practiced in this profession.
- Kamina Cheenee G. Medallon
November 11, 2011 at 9:27 pm
Thanks for making the first comment!
Your desire to know if ethics is still being practiced in PR speaks a lot about an underlying skepticism, and I can’t blame you if the reality you’re exposed to begs the question.

The first thing that comes to my mind when I hear ‘PR’ is credibility.
PR to me is all about making a positive impact to your target audience.
In Orcom 105, I want to learn the different techniques on how to sell one’s self effectively and how to lobby.
-Karen Clarisse B. Tavaco
November 11, 2011 at 9:33 pm
Sell yourself to whom, Karen? I hope not to the devil. Just kidding. But you’re right, a personal brand is very important and I hope the class will help you develop yours too.

The first thing that comes to mind when I hear ‘PR’ is perception.
PR to me is seeding and inculcating a particular set of perception and attitude to the target public (e.g. youth, media, government, etc.). How we want the public to perceive and patronize a brand, an organization, or a person is basically the core of public relations. As middle man between the client and the audience, we have the power to create, maintain, ignite, alter, intensify, degrade, or destroy the public’s perception and attitude towards a particular brand or image.
In Orcom 105, I want to learn the dynamics of creating and maintaining a good perception and initiating the change of attitude of the public. Not only the dynamics and techniques per se, but also the attitude of connecting your message to the people who matter to the brand, organization, or person and the swag of relating to various people from different walks of life.

You seem to have learned well from Orcom 101 because of your answers. If so, you make Burn feel proud and you make my life easy. haha!

The first thing that comes to mind when I hear ‘PR’ is INTEGRITY.
PR, to me, is how an organization presents itself to its publics, and maintains that particular image without compromising the values on which it is built, while still communicating effectively and transparently with its publics.
In OrCom 105, I want to learn more exactly what PR is, the trends in PR nowadays, and if and how morals play a (big) role in becoming a good PR practitioner.
- Camille Kaye P. Oliveras, 2009-01458
November 11, 2011 at 10:11 pm
Interesting answer. The role of values or ethics in PR is indeed important. I can’t stress it enough.
November 11, 2011 at 10:21 pm
The first thing that comes to mind when I hear PR is reputation, because just like how it is for anyone else, a company’s reputation is very important, as it can make or break that company.
PR to me, is the primary tool a company can use to sweeten their reputation, so that their image will click with the masses, and sell. Not only will a company’s reputation ensure customer loyalty, it can also win new ones over to their side.
In Orcom 105, I want to learn how to use this tool efficiently. I also want to learn the effects of good and bad PR on a company, as well as the different success stories/failures a business has, just because of good/bad publicity. Finally, I think it’d also be interesting to see the difference between promoting yourself and a hard sell. Sometimes, we can get carried away when we promote ourselves, that people will get turned off by our advances (like what tends to happen when we look for a date, haha).

The first thing that comes to my mind when I hear PR is audience.
PR to me is getting the audience managed effectively. How the target public/ audience perceives a certain organization serves as a measurement for the effectiveness of an organization’s PR. In my opinion and how I understand PR so far, it is like saying that the final say of public relations is in the audience.
In OrCom 105, I want to learn the do’s and don’ts in doing PR especially the techniques in doing successful PR since public image is one of the most important things we have nowadays. It is not just important in corporations but also in creating an image for yourself. Building connections is one of the strongest strategy that we might use in order for us to be successful and I believe that a good practice of PR is very much needed in this.

The first thing that comes to mind when I hear ‘PR’ is ‘Identity exposure’. PR has something to do with creating and promoting an individual’s or an organization’s identity by improving the quality and content of what it exposes to its public.
PR to me is a vital aspect in organizational communication that, if used correctly, can tip scales in drastic measures. It uses a wide variety of media to achieve its goals, which aren’t only set on, say, profit alone, but towards long-term ones. I would say PR is already part of our daily lives- we use it even in our own little organizations (i.e. family)
In Orcom 105, I want to learn about the effectiveness of various tactics/techniques given particular contexts. I am aware that what works for one may not work for the another, so I would like to learn about that. I am also interested in learning about spins and framing and how the ‘ethical rules’ previously mentioned by my classmates are being bent and/or managed by PR.
November 11, 2011 at 11:16 pm
“Image” is the first word which usually comes across my mind when I hear PR.
Unfortunately, PR is something which bears a negative connotation to me. I think of it as something which is used by people to cover up their (extreme) mistakes committed in public. Back in OrCom 101, I remember telling myself that PR or lobbying will not be even one of the last few things I would do. (sorry for that, sir.)
In OrCom 105, I want to learn what is the real meaning and importance of PR for me as an Orcommunicologist and as an individual. Right now, I’m quite dazed with all the PR definitions given by speakers in previous seminars which I attended. And of course, I would like to see the other side, or the good side of PR.
-Frances Anne DR Bautista
November 11, 2011 at 11:22 pm
The first thing that comes to mind when I hear ‘PR’ is a bad image or reputation in need of restoration.
PR to me is building a good image or impression. After all, bad impressions do last especially in the absence of opportunities to present a better one.
In Orcom 105, I want to learn how to influence or manipulate (if I may) people into believing the things/ideas that I want them to believe without being too assertive or obvious. Hahaha

The first thing that comes to mind when I hear ‘PR’ is dealing with smoke and mirrors.
PR to me is all about framing and the responsibility that comes with it. I honestly believe that everything in life can be rationalized. We tell ourselves what we want to hear, because the truth is it makes everything a little more bearable at the end of the day. To be able to alter the perception of people is a scarily powerful ability. But would it be realistic to say that PR is only utilized for “good” causes?
In Orcom 105, I want to learn when the rationalizing stops and the lying to yourself and others begins. I want to know if cynicism is an important part of PR. Does being a cynic make you more aware and discerning when faced with smoke and mirrors or does it mean you’re just not equipped with the creativity and imagination needed to become an effective PR practitioner?

The first thing that comes to mind when I hear ‘PR’ is relationship.
PR to me is the art of building a good or favorable relationship to your target audience. It shows how an organization or an individual can practice, manage and maintain their relationship to the public.
In Orcom 105, I want to learn the how effective communication helps in building and maintaining relationships between an organization and its public. I would also like to find out the trends in PR nowadays and I’m also interested in knowing how PR ethics really works in the industry.
November 12, 2011 at 9:57 am
The first thing that comes to mind when I hear ‘PR’ is ‘positive.’
PR to me is building and maintaining a positive image of a certain person or organization.
In Orcom 105, I want to learn the do’s and the don’ts of PR. I also want to learn how to address certain issues within organizations (through simulated activities) without lying, as much as possible. (I have this negative connotation that in PR, when you have to lie, you will, just to maintain a positive image.)

The first thing that comes to mind when I hear ‘PR’ is ENGAGEMENT.
PR to me is presenting a positive image to a target audience through building, enhancing, and maintaining relationships. Knowing the audience and engaging with them, via different channels of communication, is fundamental because it opens a venue for feedback. It determines the strategies that can be best used to the challenge of protecting an organization’s reputation. PR is viewed as an exciting field because a lot of talking, press conferences, events (even partying!), and social media use are involved. Surely, one’s sociability can be pushed to the limit! On the other hand, PR is viewed in a negative way because it is believed that the truth is concealed to maintain a favorable image especially in crisis management.
In Orcom 105, I want to learn how PR is related to or differed from other fields such as Marketing, Advertising, Corporate Comm, etc. It seems that the format and content of a PR plan and a Marketing plan have similarities. I also want to know the new trends in PR due to the emergence of various internet technologies (e.g. SNS, blogs, and SEO).

The first thing that comes to mind when I hear ‘PR’ is EFFECTIVE PUBLICITY.
PR to me is the art and science of building, enhancing, and maintaining a client’s image or reputation. How the public forms opinions on a client is its main concern.
In OrCom 105, I want to learn about the various strategies employed in the profession and how to determine what strategy is appropriate in a given client’s situation.

The first thing that comes to mind when I hear ‘PR’ is ‘goodwill creation’.
PR to me is the practice of managing the public’s perception about a certain organization or a certain activity of an organization. I’ve learned that a company having a good relationship with its external environment is essential for their own growth or success. That’s where PR steps in.
In Orcom 105, I want to learn if the field of PR is my calling in life. I’m two years away from graduating (hopefully), and I’m still unsure about my future profession. By learning more about PR, I can get a glimpse of what my life could be like if I was PR practitioner.

The first thing that comes to mind when I hear ‘PR’ is ‘doing good and telling people about it’.
PR to me is like planting seeds of goodwill to people to be nurtured so that relationships may flourish.
I want to learn more about the current state of PR especially here in our country. The age of new media is increasingly penetrating the market. It has been effectively utilized in mass communication, especially in the dissemination of messages instantly. But with this advantage, PR has become mere messages, no more relationships. I want to know if this is already the case in our country because Filipinos have been always known to be people who value relationships.

The first thing that comes to mind when I hear ‘PR’ is reputation.
PR to me is all about a person or organization’s reputation or image. I view PR as a communication tool aimed at a certain group of people for the purpose of creating, changing, or rebuilding the image of an organization, individual, or brand.
In OrCom 105, I want to learn the do’s and don’ts of PR practitioners. I also want to learn how to devise an effective
PR plan. In particular, I want to learn about strategies used when repairing the damaged reputation or image of a company, person, or brand.

The first thing that comes to mind when I hear ‘PR’ is promoting a certain image of a person or organization to the public.
PR to me is about creating and maintaining a good relationship with the public. It is essential to any organization because it can make or break the reputation of a certain organization.
In OC105, I want to learn how to effectively create strategies and tactics in order to create a successful PR Plan. Sometimes I get confused with PR, marketing, branding and advertising so I would like to learn more on how one differentiates from another.

The first thing that comes to mind when I hear the word “PR” are flashy lights. I don’t know why, but maybe I associate the word with events that comes with a ton of preparations that maybe includes photography or decorations. I am not that sure, but somehow I associate PR with tangibility.
PR for me is about humor that sells. Some say that it is about selling something in a way that may appeal to the majority, but for me it is more of “persuasion in an undetectable way” Getting attention without trying too hard, that is the headline of PR for me.
I want to learn how PR can aid or even save a company from a downfall. I want to learn different strategies and tactics, even frameworks on how to make effective PR plans.

The first thing that comes to my mind when I hear ‘PR’ is a “Photoshopped image” because when you do PR you somehow present the “edited” story. But just like a Photoshopped image, there is an original photo. You just enhance it. =) Therefore, PR to me is not making up stories. It bases its report on what really happened (or what is happening). It just presents the company (or individual) to its public in its best light or in a positive light, no matter what.
PR is needed to protect and enhance the company’s reputation and to help the company achieve its full potential through research and feedback.
In Orcom 105, I want to learn the strategies and tactics in making PR plans. I also want to learn what makes PR different from Advertising, Marketing and Branding. With the training I will get from this course, hopefully, PR will be another field I can get into (aside from HR/Training) after graduation.

The first thing that comes to my mind when I hear ‘PR’ is publicity.
PR to me is about looking for ways on how an organization could make the public see (or believe) the image that they want to show.
In Orcom 105, I want to learn about the difference of PR from the other ‘related’ fields in Orcom such as Advertising, etc. I also hope that i would learn to appreciate my course more through this subject.

Politicians- This is the word that I that comes into my mind first whenever I hear the word PR. I think Filipino politicians are so fond of maintaining their “goody” image to win the votes of the Filipino masses.
PR to me is relaying of message for a grand purpose. It isn’t just about creating a good image and maintaining credibility but is also about fulfilling a cause or advocacy.
In OC 105, I want to learn how to transform ugly to beauty, bad to good, negative to positive.:)
November 13, 2011 at 12:51 pm
The first thing that comes to mind when I hear ‘PR’ is hypnosis.
PR to me is the practice of getting attention and shaping public opinion. It is placing carefully crafted stories in the media to build awareness, create interest and maintain a favorable image for an organization.
In OrCom 105, I want to learn and be engaged in PR. I want to know how and when to use this tool to attract target market’s attention in a world of constant distractions. I want to find out how companies nowadays shape minds, build brands, and deliver results using advancing technologies. How they deal with rumors or manage crises that threaten company image built over years of hard work.

The first thing that comes to mind when I hear ‘PR’ is reputation.
PR to me is presenting an individual or organization in the way you want the public to perceive them.
In Orcom 105, I hope to learn if I really want to pursue PR after college. I’ve been toying with the idea of going into public relations since we were assigned to create a PR plan for Orcom 101. Hopefully, learning more about the field will help me decide if PR is really my calling.

The first thing that comes to mind when I hear ‘PR’ is research.
PR to me is a field that relies heavily on research, especially during the drafting of a PR plan.
In Orcom 105, I want to learn the mores of a bona fide PR practitioner, as well as the necessary information one might need to succeed in the PR industry.

The first thing that comes to mind when I hear ‘PR’ is media.
PR to me is power that takes time to harness and develop.
In Orcom 105, I want to learn PR’s value to me as an individual.
November 13, 2011 at 7:11 pm
The first thing that comes to mind when I hear ‘PR’ is a ‘corporate battlefield’.
PR to me is a dangerous weapon (so to speak) that organizations must learn how to wield properly for them to be able to survive in a very competitive corporate environment. Reputations and public images are fragile, but very powerful. They have the ability to control how an organization’s target market reacts to the products they release, how employees react to a corporation’s management, etc.
In Orcom 105, I want to know if I’ll be able to keep up with other PR practitioners, and if I would want to pursue PR after I graduate. Also, I would really like to know how good morals and values could still be applied in PR despite the heavy competition involved with it.

The first thing that comes to mind when I hear ‘PR’ is “relationship strategies”.
PR to me is maintaining a certain image an organization wants to show to specific groups or audience.
In Orcom 105, I want to learn the different communication strategies that may aid in improving the public opinion for organizations. In learning a lot from Orcom105, PR process and other matters, I will be prepared to the challenges that I may encounter in the corporate world.

The first thing that comes to my mind when I hear PR is “effective representation”
PR to me is about building relationships with the public and creating an image, which does not necessarily mean that it is the truth but rather it is what “sells” to the public, which will present the credibility of a company to be able to gain their audience’s trust and loyalty.
In OrCom 105 I would like to learn how to effectively use PR and how much truth there is in it. I would like to know if in the different strategies and techniques, there is actually genuineness, and how it is used even if it does not cater the public’s interest. I would also like to discover if there is a possible career for me in PR.

The first thing that comes to my mind when I hear ‘PR’ is Image.
PR to me is being able to make a good image of a person/organization in the way you want the public to see it.
In Orcom 105, I want to learn the right strategies in PR. I also want to know how far PR practitioners go just to create an effective plan.
November 13, 2011 at 10:40 pm
What comes to mind when I hear PR: mutualism and utilitarianism (it’s very NatSci II and SocSci II respectively, I know).
PR to me is about creating, maintaining, nourishing, (and restoring if broken) interpersonal and organizational relationships while being consistent on how we make appropriate choices especially when both the client (includes family and friends, colleagues etc) and the public have to benefit from it. It’s about minimizing the bad effects of our choices while maximizing the good ones.
I want to learn and understand how to infuse PR with the different fields or areas of OrCom (especially in HR because it’s the one thing I really want to pursue for now).

The first thing that comes to mind when I hear ‘PR’ is someone who talks too much. We usually use the term “ma-PR” to a person who can easily communicate and project an appealing image to an audience.
But when I got engaged in seminars and lectures about PR, it became quite clear to me that PR is the utilization of different communication channels in order to promote an organization’s image effectively to the public. Based on my experience in different school organizations, PR involves events planning such as outreach projects or parties that boost the organization’s reputation.
In Orcom 105, I want to learn how to create an effective and clear PR plan and how it differs from advertising and marketing plans.

The first thing that comes to my mind when I hear ‘PR’ is “effective communication.”
To me, PR is an organization’s way of influencing people’s perceptions and behaviors. It’s also about keeping a positive face as well as establishing and maintaining relationships with key people (i.e. clients, audience, etc.). I do think that these three could be achieved [by earning the trust of others] through persuasive communication. I think PR is about how well an organization communicates itself–its credibility and reliability–in an attempt to boost its reputation and influence others to make choices/act in the organization’s favor.
In OrCom 105, I want to learn the current PR trends in the Philippines and if ethics is still being practiced in the field. Also, I want to know how to create an effective PR plan and how to execute it properly (which are essential) should I decide to pursue a career in the said field.

The first thing that comes to mind when I hear “PR” is “influence”.
PR to me is all about framing people’s perceptions and manipulating how they would think and feel about personalities, products and organizations. But PR can also work either for or against you. It is undoubtedly an instrument of power since we are, in essence, tinkering with human sensibilities. Public Relations, as the name implies, requires one to have a firm grasp of their audience because it is largely about creating and maintaining relationships.
In OrCom 105, I want to learn the best/worst strategies to use in order to “package” a brand and how exactly is it different from (or related to) branding, advertising and marketing.

The first thing that comes to mind when I hear ‘PR’ is survival.
PR to me should be a way for an organization or individual to not only create and maintain a good image, but also to establish good working relationships with their clients/target audience in order to survive. However, I believe that the role of PR has a tendency of being influenced, to a certain degree, by factors such as personal interest, or a thirst for superiority/power and monetary gain; and as a result, PR, for me, becomes less of a strategy for relationship-building and more of a ‘ruthless’ strategy purely for survival – in other words, an org/individual may go to many lengths, including lying to their clients, as long as they emerge on top in this “survival of the fittest.”
In Orcom 105, I want to learn what sets PR apart from other Orcom-related fields such as advertising, marketing, for out of the three, PR is the field I’m least knowledgeable about. I also want to learn about the code of ethics (if there is any, and hopefully there still is) in PR, especially in the Philippine context, and if PR is a viable career path for me.

“A Name to Protect and an Image to Project”–The first thing that comes to mind when I hear ‘PR’.
PR to me is a tool for building, enhancing and protecting image and reputation. In the process, it also acts as a mechanism for feedback from the public to the organization/brand.
In Orcom 105, I want to learn more about dealing with issues and crises management. Also, through OC 105, I want to maximize the things we learn in OrCom and be able to apply in what we do/will do.
November 15, 2011 at 8:50 pm
The first thing that comes to my mind when I hear PR is persuasion.
PR to me is creating and projecting an image based on the target audience. It’s doing research about the target audience, creating an image that would influence and even persuade that target audience, and gaining advantages from that effective persuasion.
I would love to learn how PR is different from my other OrCom subjects. I would also want to learn techniques that will help me manage conflicts that would arise in this field.
November 15, 2011 at 9:22 pm
The first thing that comes to mind when I hear ‘PR’ is the colloquial term “ma-PR”, which is used to describe people who can relate well and communicate effectively to their audience.
PR to me is building a positive relationship with the audience/target market. It is also, in a way, manipulating the audience to perceive something the way you want it to be perceived.
In Orcom 105, I want to learn what PR really is and what we, as future OrCom practitioners, can contribute in this field. Also, I would like to discover if I would be effective if ever I choose to have a career in PR.
November 15, 2011 at 10:05 pm
The first thing that comes to mind when I hear ‘PR’ is ‘Image’ – to be put up or to be restored.
PR to me is the effective way of conveying a positive message to a specific audience and making them believe in its goodness. Moreover, it is enabling people to see things from your perspective.
In Orcom 105, I want to learn PR strategies and how to measure the appropriate strategy given a certain case. I am also looking forward in learning the effective way to design a PR plan.
November 16, 2011 at 2:18 pm
The first thing that comes to mind when I hear the word PR is “cult of personality”.
PR to me is the creation, projection and maintenance of a set of perspectives that ultimately results to the conformity of its public. As such, it is a form of communication that is extremely reliant on the organization’s ability to connect with and understand its audience.
In Orcom 105, I want to learn what separates PR from other pervasive tools of persuasion like propaganda and indoctrination (if there is a distinction between them at all) . I am particularly interested in the concept of “spin”, along with other “controversial” aspects of PR.
November 16, 2011 at 4:36 pm
The first thing that comes to mind when I hear ‘PR’ is “reputation”.
PR to me is a tool to enhance a company or an organization’s reputation. Through good PR, a company can project a positive image of itself to its target audience.

The first thing that comes to my mind when I hear ‘PR’ is ‘packaging’
PR to me is the creation, maintenance and rebuilding of an individual, a group or a company’s image. PR practitioners package individuals or companies to gain the attention, trust and loyalty of their audience.
In OrCom 105, I want to learn different PR theories, methods and strategies that we can use when we enter the industry. I also want to know how PR can be related to other fields like HR and Marketing.

The first thing that comes to mind when I hear ‘PR’ is image.
PR to me is a two-way relationship. It is how an organization presents itself to the public and how the public perceives it. An organization must build a good image and maintain a good relationship to its audience. The success of PR depends on both parties.
In Orcom 105, I want to learn the different strategies in building a good image as well as maintaining a good relationship with a client. I also want to learn the strategies in repairing a damaged reputation.

The first thing that comes to mind when I hear ‘PR’ is the overall IMAGE or PUBLIC PERCEPTION of an organization.

The first thing that comes to mind when I hear ‘PR’ is “public image”.
PR to me is all about building and maintaining a good image, relationship and reputation of an organization to its employees, clients and stakeholders. It is about establishing connection and gaining the trust and loyalty of its target audience. PR is used in creating or reinventing the organization’s identity.
In Orcom 105, I want to learn how can one be a good and effective PR practitioner. I also want to know what makes PR in trend nowadays compared to other fields like Advertising, for example.

The first thing that comes to mind when I hear ‘PR’ is “reputation” and “persuasion”. Reputation not only of a certain organization, but of the people who work for the organization and represent it. And persuasion of the public through the use of modern and traditional media.
PR to me (in the organizational context) is using whatever means possible to project a good public image. Projection itself is already challenge but I think that maintaining a certain image that you have successfully projected to the public is more of a challenge especially when there is competition.
In Orcom 105, I want to learn the persuasion aspect of public relations and the different techniques on how to maintain the image of an organization. I also want to learn how to make a PR Plan.

The first thing that comes to mind when I hear ‘PR’ is showbiz. Before OrCom, I often associated ‘PR’ with “being ma-PR” (aka knowing how to get on the good side of people, being talkative, being influential, etc)
PR to me is being able to clearly communicate a desired message to the public. It is being able to analyze how to approach or relay a message to a particular sector of the public. To me, PR is knowing how to push the right buttons to get your desired reaction.
In Orcom 105, I want to learn two things: how to make a excellent PR plan and how to persuade.

The first thing that comes to mind when I hear ‘PR’ is Attitude.
PR to me is something that we do everyday. It is an inevitable part of our lives; we engage in PR whether we are conscious of it, or not. It is creating and maintaining a particular image that is satisfactory to both sides of the coin. It is not just about who gets there first, but who stays and lasts.
In Orcom 105, I want to learn everything PR. I want to learn how to maximize PR skills and apply them in situations where the battle is between the wits and not the hits.

The first thing that comes to mind when I hear ‘PR’ is successfully relating with a group people you don’t know.
PR to me is when you are able to present an idea to a person or to a group of people and letting them appreciate it for what it is without question. I see it as a discreet way to lead people to the side you want them to be; to somehow control what you want them to think.
In Orcom 105, I want to learn the what is needed for a person to be successful in PR, its disadvantages and advantages, and know and be updated about the current strategies used by PR practitioners.
